Montes Claros - The Foundation Sara, Montes Claros, which assist children with cancer, will expand his role to Belo Horizonte, Lagoa Santa and Matozinhos, in the metropolitan area of the capital. The project will be launched today at 19 hours, in Montes Claros, in partnership with physicians, Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte. Built in 1998, in Montes Claros, the Foundation Sara, who has served 420 children, is headed by Alvaro Costa Gaspar. The name was given in honor of his daughter Sara Albuquerque, who died that year, after the discovery that he had the disease.

The initiative to set up a unit in Belo Horizonte, according to Gaspar, came after the visit of oncologists in the Santa Casa Montes Claros, in the last year, when they were impressed with the social work performed by the children with cancer. The core of the work in the capital district and St. Luke's Foundation will help Sara, which is not supported to take children of northern Minas to undergo spinal surgery in Belo Horizonte. "We do, in the capital, the same work we do in Montes Claros, taking children across the region. It will be in partnership with the doctors of the Holy House, "said Gaspar.
An early step in the foundation will be the reform of the Pediatric Oncology Unit, Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte, valued at $ 250 thousand, which will be funded by the Ronald McDonald. On 28 and 29 August, there will be the "Happy Day", and income collected in 21 McDonald's stores will for reform.

The Foundation also carry Sara campaign for early diagnosis of cancer in Lagoa Santa and Matozinhos by training teams of the Family Health Program, to help identify the symptoms of the disease in children, in partnership with the doctor Joaquim Caetano in Belo Horizonte .

In 11 years of existence, the Foundation Sara has the support of 12 thousand members, who donate and keep their activities.
